MILFORD - The ARTery Gallery in Milford announces a new exhibit for February titled "Is It Love or Cabin Fever?"; and a Cabin Fever Party reception on Saturday, February 10, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Is winter's long and seemingly endless period of cold and darkness taking a toll on your psyche? Are you beginning to feel a little locked in and antsy? The Gallery's artists will have some fun with this seasonal phenomenon drawing on themes of cabin fever craziness: love (Valentine's Day is approaching), emotional confusion, and how a cozy home can begin to feel like a prison. The exhibit, with its wild, inquisitive, humorous, introspective creations, will provide a fun and unusual visual response to this mass seasonal disorder.
In Kate Horan's mixed media piece "Wolf at the Door", fierce wolves approach the open door of a frightened family's home. Al Rosser's "Can Can Dancer" and his humorous interpretation of Manet's famous "Olympia", plus assemblages by Bill Rabsey that play with objects d'art, are just a sampling of the work on display.
An antidote to the February blues? Bring your home bound self and friends to the ARTery's Cabin Fever Party, a chance to have some fun with all the craziness the season promotes. The Gallery encourages showing your wild side by wearing wacky, creative. mismatched outfits, hats, etc. Fun music, decadent treats and beverages will be provided. You just bring your cabin feverishness.
The event is free and open to the public, hosted by the member artists of the cooperative Gallery. The exhibit will be on display from February 9 to March 4.
