BUSHKILL - The National Park Service will be conducting roadside vegetation maintenance along US Route 209 beginning next week.  In order to complete this work, which includes removal of brush and overhead limbs, sections of Route 209 will be closed from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. each evening beginning on Monday, February 5. Work is expected to be completed by Thursday, February 8, weather permitting.

“This work is being done to increase safety for motorists by improving sight distances and removing overhanging branches,” said William Tayge, Roads and Trails Supervisor for the park.  “Closing the road for one hour each evening will allow us to complete this project in less time and will improve the safety of our employees who are out on the road doing the work.”  Emergency vehicles will be permitted through the closure areas.  Side roads may be used to bypass the closed sections.

The roadside vegetation maintenance and road closure schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, February 6: Closed between Route 739 and Brisco Mountain Road Wednesday, February 7: Closed between Brisco Mountain Road and Egypt Mills Road Thursday, February 8: Closed between Egypt Mills Road and Brodhead Road
