MATAMORAS - Members of Matamoras and Shohola Boy Scout Troops worked toward achieving the First Aid Merit Badge at the Matamoras Fire House.
Jessica Brighton, Merit Badge Counselor, along with the assistance of Life Scout Liam Southard, instructed the training.
The day long training consisted of not only Basic First Aid Training, but CPR and AED training, as well.
This First Aid merit badge has rigorous components which include but are not limited to: actions to take for a bee sting; handling bone fractures; recognizing and acting on symptoms of heat stroke, hypothermia, frostbite, and dehydration, and muscle cramps. Another component listed is knowing what to do for a knocked-out tooth and how to move an injured person.
The Instructors worked very hard to assure that the boys were able to apply these components competently. Both troops would like to express their appreciations the members of the Matamoras Fire House for their hospitality.
