LAKE REGION - The communities of Honesdale and Hawley are gearing up for The big Relay For Life event with a Paint the Town Purple campaign.  It begins May 1st and ends on the 19th with the Greater Lake Region Relay For LIfe at the Wallenpaupack Area High School.
Local businesses are showing their support by decorating their storefronts in purple, the color representing all cancers.  Some have fundraisers going on as well.

On Saturday May 12th each town will have a table on their Main Street where anyone can come get information, make a donation or purchase and decorate a luminaria bag in honor or in memory of someone who has experienced cancer. These bags will be displayed around the track at Relay For Life during the luminaria ceremony that begins at dusk. All are invited.
On the 12th some special events will take place.  Irving Cliff Brewery Paints the Town Purple supports Relay For Life with an event T shirt, Purple Growlers (beer) and a hike to the Stone Cave Brewery.

Stourbridge Line will make a donation to the American Cancer Society Relay For LIfe for every paid passenger wearing purple on the 1 p.m. train excursion.

This year’s theme for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of the Greater Lake Region is Our Superpower is Fighting Cancer.

“Make it your superpower too and come out and support Relay For Life on the 12th and 19th,” said Maggie Bova, chairperson.
