MILFORD - The Pike County Elder Justice Task Force will be holding its 5th Annual Elder Justice Day at St. Patrick’s Church Hall in Milford on Wednesday, June 13. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and there will be a continental breakfast served as well as free lunch.
Elder Justice Day is described as a stimulating and empowering presentation for anyone who is protecting their funds, family or loved ones. The goal is to educate and prevent Pike County seniors from abuse and exploitation. By joining with experts from across the state and local leaders, those in attendance will learn how to spot signs of abuse, scams and how to better protect themselves from those who may do harm.
Speakers include:
• Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin on the opiate epidemic;
• Temple University’s Ronald Costen on how to avoid becoming a victim when using a power of attorney;
• 911 Training Manager Jordan Wisniewski on how to be prepared in an emergency;
• Pike County Sheriff’s Department on how to be safe in the community.
Admission, transportation, light breakfast and lunch are provided at no charge. Reservations, however, are required and should be made by June 6. Call 570-775-5550 to register.
