HAWLEY - The Country Gardeners, Hawley Area, have been busy planting the streetscape containers along Main Street in downtown Hawley, as well as a trip to  view an Iris garden.

The street planters are a project of the Downtown Hawley Partnership and the Country Gardeners have taken on the care of the plants as a special undertaking.

The Downtown Hawley Partnership installed the burgundy planters and benches in 2014, paid by through a grant.

The group meets at 12:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month, April through December, at the Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center on Route 6.  Each meeting there is an educational presentation, plant and material exchanges are made as well as a lively interaction among members. The meetings also include a buffet served by a hostess assigned monthly.

Future plans include a bus trip to view gardens, a picnic and local garden visits.

New members are welcomed. Please contact Ruth @ Ruthher@ptd.net for information.
