Dorothy Pauline Fazio 91, a resident of Dunmore, died, July 6, 2018 at Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she received excellent care.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Moran Sbarra. She was a member of U.S Cadet Nurses Corps during WWII. Dorothy completed her nurses training at Flushing Hospital, Queens, New York where she became a registered nurse. Dorothy also enjoyed traveling, bridge and volunteering. Dorothy loved spending many summers enjoying activities at Lake Wallenpaupack.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Anthony Nicholas Fazio M.D. and her son Corporal Anthony John Fazio P.S.P. She was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Scranton. She was a Eucharistic Minister for many years.
A loving wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she devoted much of her time to her family. An active volunteer she gave of her time to various groups such as the CMC Auxiliary, Mercy Auxiliary, Allied Services, AARP, and many others.
Surviving are four children, Margaret Tosh and her husband Michael, Peter Fazio and his wife Jackie, Richard Fazio and his wife Mary Fazio, and Paul M. Fazio and his wife Christina. and daughter in law Linda; three grandchildren, Anthony Tosh, Nicholas Fazio and Matthew Fazio and her great grandson, Oliver Tosh.
She was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Sbarra.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday July 10 from the Guido-Fiorillo Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Ave. with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Paul’s Parish, 1510 Penn Ave. all attending funeral are kindly asked to proceed directly to church. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects Monday, July 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity, or to Saint Joseph Indian School, P.O.
