PSP suspects case of homicide/ suicide

MOUNT PLEASANT TWP. - PA State Police, Honesdale, is investigating what appears to be a homicide/suicide at a residence in Uniondale, happening sometime between September 8 and September 11.

MOUNT PLEASANT TWP. - PA State Police, Honesdale, is investigating what appears to be a homicide/suicide at a residence in Uniondale, happening sometime between September 8 and September 11.
The deceased shooter is Alban Vaverchak, a male, age 73; the deceased victim is his wife, Carol Vaverchak, age 67, police said,
On the 11th, a relative of the victim called the Honesdale barracks and advised that she had found the victim and husband dead in their home at 3083 Belmont Turnpike (Route 670), Uniondale.
Upon investigation, State Police determined that the victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and was deceased upon arrival of the police. The victim’s husband was also located in the residence with a gunshot wound to the head and was deceased upon arrival of the police as well.
It is believed at this time that Alban Vaverchak shot the victim in the head and then killed
himself, the police news release states. The investigation is being  continued by PSP Honesdale.
The home, along Route 670, is between Belmont corners, Pleasant Mount and Orson.
Carol Vaverchak’s Facebook page indicates that she went to school in Susquehanna, Pa. and worked at Hemlock Farms. Several pictures show her playing drums in a band.
