WALLENPAUPACK - Ten new Wallenpaupack Area School District teachers for the 2018-2019 school year were welcomed, and introduced to the school board at the September 10th board session.

These include three new speech therapists, which represent half of the speech therapy staff. All of the teachers hired replaced others who left the district, except for those hired for two new special education positions.

Three of the new faculty are Wallenpaupack graduates: Vicki Waldron, 2001; Tanya Hohfeler, 2008 and Brittney Davis, 2012.

Wallenpaupack Area Middle School sees the greatest number of new teachers: five. North Primary has three and South Elementary, North Intermediate and High School each have one.

The new teachers include:

Brittney Davis, Reading Learning Support, Middle School; Samantha David, Special Ed Math, High School; Nicole Delevan, Special Ed Learning Support, North Primary; James Bryan, 2nd Grade, North Primary; Tanya Hohfeler, Special Ed Learning Support, Middle School; Kelly Mullins - Vanston, Speech Therapist, North Primary; Sarah Castaldi, Speech Therapist, North Intermediate/ Middle School; Kayla Turnonis, Speech Therapist, North Primary; Vicki Waldron, Social Studies, Middle School; Milicent Wrightman, Math, Middle School.

Assistant Superintendent Keith Gunuskey said they have the best of both worlds, with an outstanding group of new as well as experienced teachers. Superintendent Michael Silsby commented to the group, “We congratulate you on all you have accomplished so far. We certainly want to support you in your endeavors here at Wallenpaupack….We’re entrusting you with our young people and we know you will do an outstanding job.”
