Newfoundland, Pa. -

The Wallenpaupack South Elementary School in Newfoundland has received a $500 Educational Alliance Grant through the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program which offers Exxon and Mobil retailers the opportunity to obtain a grant to support a local school.

Funds received from the grant must be directed toward math or science. The South Elementary School was able to purchase two lab kits on Waves and Sound and Light and Optics, and four microscopes for student use.

A large number of students in the building will benefit from these purchases. School officials hope that the South Elementary School will be eligible for another grant in the near future, which would be dedicated to the purchase of math materials for the school.

Fifth grader Anthony Irving says, "I like using the microscope. You are able to see interesting things up close."
