The Kindergarten classes of the Wallenpaupack South Elementary School will present a music program on Tuesday, April 15.
The children will open the show by inviting everyone to join in the salute to our flag and the singing of “America.” An “official” welcome follows with the children singing “I Have a Hello,” and “Hurray! I Like It Here” followed by “A Good Old Happy Song,” Kacie Fagan, soloist and “I Am a Person,” Kara Campbell, soloist.
The connection between singing and reading is highlighted as the children “sing” two books: “Today is Monday” and “Ten in a Bed.” The children sing of what they eat on each day of the week in Eric Carl’s book, “Today is Monday” and 10 children, Rebecca Eckes, Lily Hannon, Bella Kirsch, Jacob Bulkeley, Charlay Ryan, David Manassy, Sabryna Ryan, Sophia McAvey and Matthew Benedito, squeeze into bed — and subsequently fall out — with soloist, Victoria Weber, in “Ten in a Bed.”
A set of puppy songs includes “BINGO,” “Oh, Where Has My Little Dog Gone?” with Emma Tavalsky as soloist, “A Little Spotted Puppy” and “Rags.” The kindergarten will create a sound picture of a “Big Old Storm A-Comin” with Emily Peet and Alexis Krautter flashing lightning on the cymbals; blowing wind with Anthony Ioppolo, Quinlan Burke and Gionni Wadud,on the tambourine; rain coming down with Elijah Sedora, Ashley Darling, Gavin Hearn, Sandy Wittner, Madison Henwood and Rebecca Cykosky on the shakers, and rolling thunder with Brian Wyckoff, Sean Vennie and Alex Davies drumming away on various drums. The South Carolina Folk Song “The Angel Band” has the following angels playing instruments: Elizabeth Desmet and Blake Morris, cymbals; David Kelly and Darianne Atkinson, drums; Izaiah Santiago and Thomas Fossetta, maracas; Justin Quinones, tone block; Amanda Jones, gong; David Kietsch, tambourine; Tristan Kilpatrick, triangle; Logan Siegfried, jingle stick; Anthony LoCicero, guiro and Jada McNamara, jingle bells.
The children brighten the evening singing “Mr. Sun” with Andrea Loor, soloist. The children may be small but soloist, Addy Hewitt tells us they act tall. The song “Small Packages” sums up the joy of the evening with the children singing the words “Good things come in small packages — like us.” The children congratulate themselves for a great show with the finale song “Give Yourself a Pat on the Back.”
Sean Vennie is excited about performing and “can’t wait for the concert.” Andrea Loor says, “I like singing.”
Show time is 7 pm in the school’s cafetorium, according to Jean M. Shields, music teacher. Principal Nancy Simon, Ed.D., said, “The public is invited to attend.”
