Greentown Woman assaulted, robbed in her home

Greentown, Pa. -

Two men assaulted a Greentown woman and stole a large sum of money from her home just after midnight Wednesday morning.

Two men allegedly tied up a 24-year-old woman in her home in the Escape Development and stole more then $10,000, Feb. 3 between 12:15 and 12:30 midnight, according PA State Trooper Michael Mulvey.

The woman told police she  by herself talking on her cell phone to her fiancee’s cousin when she heard her pit bull terrier begin barking. She said two men then entered her bedroom.

The men sprayed her face with pepper mace while she was on her bed. The men flipped her over and tried to duct tape her hands behind her back.

She began to struggle, according to police, and they all fell to the floor. She was then hit on the head with a crow bar. The men began to kick her as she lay on the floor.

She told police the men dragged her around the bedroom. She said one of the intruders asked her where the money was and stated they would harm, according to police.

She then told police one of the intruders went directly to the closet and removed $10,000, as well as, $300 from a change bucket.

The two men then fled the scene.

The victim described the men as white males. One was six feet tall and had a heavy build. The other was about five feet eight inches tall with a husky build. She said the two men were wearing black pull-over sweatshirts, black masks and black jeans.

The victim was taken to CMC Hospital in Scranton for treatment.
