On Wednesday Feb. 3, at 12:45 midnight, Honesdale Borough Police were notified by a citizen about a suspicious package located on the sidewalk of 10th Street next to a building.
The package was found to be a box that was sealed with tape, and had no markings. Due to the proximity of the package and the suspicious nature of its placement, Officers requested assistance from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad, and the Scranton Police Department Hazardous Devices Unit.
Technicians investigated, x-rayed the package and made it safe. It was then determined the package did not contain any hazardous materials.
During the incident 10th Street was closed, and traffic was detoured from Church Street onto Court Street.
