Paupack, Pa. -

Due to regulations from Labor and Industry, another piece of equipment used for Township roads is being removed.

As a result from a recent investigation/inspection of the fuel tanks located on the Township’s Municipal property by the State’s Labor and Industry Dept., the tanks have been contemned.

The fuel station, which is over 20 years old has been supplying fuel on site for the Townships trucks, equipment and the Lakeville Fire Company’s Fire trucks. Now, they will have to travel to get fuel, wasting time and money.

“A new one would cost in the range of $7 to $15 thousand dollars,” said Chairman Supervisor Bruce Chandler. “Money we don’t have.”

The old tanks will probably be sold for scrap metal, he added.

In addition to the loss of readily-available fuel for the Township, Chandler said that the Lakeville Volunteer Fire Company will now have to go elsewhere to top off their fire trucks and emergency equipment after returning from a fire or accident.

Mowing

Adding to the list another lost of equipment, the Board approved renting a mower machine from a local equipment rental shop due to the lack of a tractor.

“We had to sell the tractor,” cited Chandler on the lack of equipment. “The tractor was no longer safe to use by insurance standards,” he explained.

In another cost saving issue, the Board approved having their Township’s waste collector Butler Disposal pick up to once every two weeks instead of one. The cost would be lowered to $72 a month.

The Board also declined to join Pennsylvania’s One Call System saving a small amount of money in dues.

In other matters, the Board:

• Approved the Hanf Subdivision; the Shadow Rock Developers Agreement; a Lot Combination for Rodriguez; and granted re-approval for recording purposes for Briar Hill Deed;

• Set a Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance Workshop for June 27, 1 pm at the Municipal Building. The public can attend, but no comments will be accepted;

• Announced that the Lakeville Food Pantry will be open June 26, form 11 am to 2 pm at the Municipal Building;

• And appointed Jack Gourley to replace Phyllis Carson’s seat as Township Auditor for the rest of her term, six years.

The Paupack Township Board of Supervisors meet on the second Thursday of each month, 7:30 pm at the Municipal Building in Lakeville. The next business meeting is scheduled for July 10.
