Eastern Pike Regional Police  recently presented Alcohol IQ cards to businesses that serve alchol in Matamoras and Westfall, as part of a statewide effort to highlight alcohol and DUI awareness during the holiday season.

Operation Safe Holiday is a comprehensive traffic safety mobilization which runs from Nov. 17 through Jan. 31, 2009.    Activities will be held throughout the region to highlight this safety and enforcement initiative. Efforts will be aimed at promoting safe driving during November, December and January.

Statistics show that crashes and fatalities increase around the holidays. Pennsylvania is no exception. It’s easy to get stressed or distracted during the holidays and that can be dangerous when you are behind the wheel.

The best way to avoid a ticket — or worse — is by driving defensively, never riding with anyone who is impaired, and always wearing your seat belt.  Drive as though your life depends on it, because it does.

The Pennsylvania DUI Association addresses the DUI problem in all of its many stages — from prevention to enforcement up to, and including, adjudication and rehabilitation.  For more information, contact www.padui.org.
