Ryan Curtis, 24, of Scranton was arrested and charged with two felony counts of Robbery, two misdemeanor counts of Simple Assault and two counts of Theft for robbing an employee at the Turkey Hill store on Main Street in Honesdale Borough, Jan. 29 around 11 pm.
An employee at the store reported he was working in the store and entered the office area that is located behind the food service counter, according to Lt. Witt and Ptlm Langman of the Honesdale Borough Police. As he entered the office, a male followed him into the office and told the employee that he was being robbed.
The male physically assaulted and threatened the employee several times before tying up the employee's hands. The actor took the employees personal debit card and several small items that he grabbed while exiting the store. He walked out the front door and entered a brown colored Chevy with several other people. The subject's vehicle left the parking lot travelling east on 11th St.
Police review the surveillance video, revealed that a group of individuals entered the store. While several individuals were shopping, a male subject was observed confronting the employee in the office area, and then began to struggle with him. This male exited the office area, grabbed several items from a shelf and met with several other adults before they entered the Chevy and departed the scene.
The investigation led police to a residence on Creamton Dr. in Waymart. Honesdale Police and Pa State Police arrived at the residence and located the Chevy Blazer in the driveway. Police said they located the suspect who was identified as 24-year-old Ryan Curtis, of Scranton. Curtis was arrested and charged with two felony counts of Robbery, two misdemeanor counts of Simple Assault and two counts of Theft. He was arraigned by MDJ Carney and remanded to the Wayne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was been set for Feb. 2.
