Milford Borough received more than $1,400 to upgrade a set of traffic lights to LED.

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA) in conjunction with the Local Development District Network in Pennsylvania (LDDs) has initiated the PA Energy Partnership (PEP) for the region.

This program is designed to help local governments, schools and nonprofits reduce their energy consumption and costs through education, training, service delivery and demand reduction.

Funding is provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Shared Municipal Services Program.

NEPA recently partnered with Milford Borough, Pike County, to convert an intersection through the Traffic Signal Conversion Program. NEPA provided $1,407.96 in funding to assist the borough in converting from incandescent lighting to LED lighting in its traffic signal.

This conversion will save the borough money in electric costs, reduce maintenance costs and lower overall energy demand and usage. Milford Borough will save over $1,200 per year in energy and maintenance costs and reduce their electric consumption by 6,500 kilowatt hours per year.
