A Funeral Service will be held for Eileen J. Rider, 61, of Milestone Estates, Hawley, formerly from Union City, NJ, who died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, following a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, Henry Meldau.
Born September 25, 1946, in Weehawken, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John (nee Scholand) Rider. A graduate of Union City High School, she was employed as a switchboard operator for the Union City Police Department prior to her retirement. She had also been employed with White Rose Food Distributors. Formerly of Pleasant Apartments in Union City, she had been an active member of Democratic Club in Union City prior to moving to the Hawley area in 1996. She was of the Lutheran faith.
Also surviving are her sister, Clara Rider of New Jersey; and a niece, Clara Scism of Hawley.
Calling hours will be Saturday, March 29, from 1 to 2 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 405 Church St., Hawley.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 pm at the church with Rev. David Heckler, Pastor, officiating.
Cremation, Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
Placement of her urn will be held at a later date at Garden State Mausoleum, North Bergen, NJ.
