Evelyn S. Garman-Keim, 73, of Sinking Spring and Lake Wallenpaupack, passed away May 15, 2009 at 10:43 am in her residence in Sinking Spring. She was the partner of Robert E. Keim Sr.
Born in Philadelphia on January 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mollie J. (Wolko) Samph. Evelyn was a 1953 graduate of Frankfort High School in Philadelphia and received a BS degree in Elementary Education from West Chester University in 1957. She earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Marywood University in Scranton. She was employed by Wallenpaupack Area School District as an elementary school teacher for 35 years retiring in 1996. She also was an owner of Deer Skin Shops and Cottages in Lake Wallenpaupack. She was a member of the Lakeville United Methodist Church in Lakeville.
Also surviving are: two brothers, Charles W. Samph of Allentown and Dr. Thomas Samph of Chestnut Hill and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a step-daughter Renee Garman in 2000.
Memorial services will be in Lakeville United Methodist Church at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 301 One Norwegian Plaza, Pottsville, PA 17901 or American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605 in memory of Evelyn S. Garman-Keim.
