Dolores T. Matarazzo, 76, of Greentown died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at St. Mary’s Villa in Elmhurst, where she had been a resident.
Mrs. Matarazzo was born September 14, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Klimke) Jablonsky.
Dolores was a homemaker and worked for Family Services America in New York City for many years. She also worked as a bookkeeper for William McAllister, CPA, in Honesdale. She was an active member of the Lake Wallenpaupack Yacht Club and Mother’s Club of Regina Pacis School in Brooklyn, NY. Her passion in life was her love for both wild and domestic animals. Dolores had a wide circle of friends who thought of her as “Mom”.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years: Gerald J. Matarazzo, Jr., two daughters: Nancy J. Matarazzo of Brooklyn, NY, Karen Marie and her husband, Thomas Vale of Charlottesville, VA and three sons: Gerald “Jay” III and his wife, Donna Matarazzo of Huntington, NY, William D. Matarazzo of Boonton, NJ, Michael J. and his wife, Giuseppina Matarazzo of Brooklyn, NY; Eleven grandchildren, Angela, Danielle, Billy Jr., Joe, Mark, Jason, ToniDawn, Chani, Rebekah, Gerald & Alessandro and 4 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Teeters’ East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, Dec. 5 at 9:30 am at B.V.M. Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor. Friends are asked to go directly to the Church on Saturday. Burial will be in B.V.M. Queen of Peace Cemetery in Hawley.
