Maryellen Schofield, Beach Lake, a long-time resident of the area, passed away on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was 72 years old. Maryellen is survived by her husband Ernest E. Schofield, at home.

The daughter of the late James and Josephine O’Neil Duffy, she was born July 31, 1937 in Mt. Vernon, NY.

Maryellen was a member of St. Bernard’s R.C. Church, Beach Lake, and attended St. Francis Xavier, R.C. Church, Narrowsburg, NY.

A family statement reads: “Maryellen was a loving wife, mother of two and grandmother of three granddaughters. She was a great wife, mom, and loving grammy. As a long time employee of Woodloch Pines Resort she made many friends and took great care of the guests at the resort. Guests would come back year after year and ask for her. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.”

In addition to her husband Maryellen is survived by: One son, James E. Schofield and his wife Patti of Vernon Hills, IL; One daughter, Kathleen Mary O’Brien and her husband Michael R. of Beach Lake; Three granddaughters, Sophia Schofield, Ryan Schofield, and Ryleigh O’Brien.

She was predeceased by one brother Patrick Duffy.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
