A Memorial Service will be held Friday for Arthur J. Jebson, 88, of Paupack, who died Friday, November 27, 2009, at Brighten at Julia Ribaudo, Lake Ariel. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, the former Mildred M. Gumble, in November 2006.

Born November 30, 1920, in County Wicklow, Ireland, he was the son of the late Percy and Mary (Dagg) Jebson.

A World War II Navy veteran, he was the Pike County Sheriff for 24 years prior to his retirement in 1985. He had also operated Jebson’s Radio & TV in Hawley many years ago and was associated with Jebson Insurance Agency in Paupack.

Mr. Jebson was a member of PA Sheriffs Assoc. and former member VFW Robert Drake Memorial Post 5823 of Hawley and the Hawley Rotary Club. He was also an avid ham radio enthusiast.

He is survived by one daughter: Karen Weaver of Paupack; two granddaughters: Kristen Behney and her husband Kirk also of Paupack and Tracey Weaver of Lewes, DE; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 4, from 10 to 11 am at Teeters’ East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The memorial service will be Friday, Dec. 4, at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr., Pastor, officiating. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Interment of the cremains will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Paupack.
