Tafton, Pa. -

Services will be held Saturday for George R. “Bassman” Barbito, 54, of Tafton who died unexdpectedly Tuesday, May 5, 2009 while fishing at Lake Wallenpaupack.

Mr. Barbito was born March 22, 1955 in Bayonne, NJ and was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Trusewicz) Barbito.

He served in the Merchant Marines.

George was a lovable husband, caring person who loved his family and friends. He enjoyed music, nature, exploring and especially fishing. He loved to make people smile and he did it well. His family loved him and will miss him forever.

He is survived by his wife: Linda (Kulnisz) Barbito of Tafton; one sister: Carolyn Luce and one brother: Joseph Barbito and a sister-in-law, Christine Phillips and a nephew, many nieces and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Ronald and Tommy.

Calling hours will be Saturday, June 6, from 1 to 2 pm at Teeters’ East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, followed by a memorial gathering and prayer service at 2 pm.
