Frederick J. Cordes, 73, of Greentown, formerly from The Hideout, Lake Ariel and Ridgefield, NJ, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Joan Haase.

Born September 20, 1934, in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Dietrich and Kathe (Sasse) Cordes. A Korean War Navy veteran, he was a retired realtor for Century 21 Select Group. In addition, he was a NJ State Police Lieutenant prior to his retirement in 1982. He loved to spend time with his granddaughters and was also an avid hunter.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathryn Cordes of Newfoundland; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Richard Jacques of Archbald; and three granddaughters, Janice Cordes, Kaelyn and Jordyn Jacques.

Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
