HAWLEY- Like so many of his Hawley, Pennsylvania neighbors and peers, Thomas Orr was a native of Ireland. He was born November 17, 1829 in County Roscommon to James and Della (Kennedy) Hoar. They were farming people. Thomas was one of six children. His last name was originally spelled "Hoar," which he later changed to Orr after arriving in Hawley. He was listed as "Orr" in the 1890 Hawley directory.
