The Delaware Valley football team traveled team to Hanover Area on Friday night, and kept their record perfect with a 40-20 win over the host Cougars.

Normally the Warriors like to attack from the ground, but the Cougars were stacking the box, forcing them to go to the air.

“They were putting nine guys in the box against us, and Bryan (Schor, QB) did a nice job with some of our play-action stuff, and we were able to throw the ball,” DV head coach told the News Eagle.

“We wanted to establish the run as much as possible, but they were keeping in the box and we were successful doing that (throwing the ball).”

In the first quarter, the Warriors ground game did strike first when Chris Cohen rumbled in from four yards out, and in the second quarter, Cohen rushed in from one yard, but the passing game led to them redzone.

Late in the second quarter, the Warriors’ QB Bryan Schor,  found Adam Manzoni for a 25 yard score, and Robert Morley for a 58 yard strike.

When the half ended the Warriors had a comfortable 26-0 advantage.

“Bryan’s a pretty talented kid, and this group of receivers is one of the most talented group we have had in a long time,” said Olsommer.

“There are five or six of them that are pretty good, they run nice, disciplined routes and catch the football pretty good.”

The Warrior defense was on top of their game as well, led by Brandon Clemons, Marc Wagner, and John Harsh.

“Defensively we were bending, but didn’t break,” said Olsommer. “Brandon (Clemons) had a very good game defensively and did some good things.

“Our defensive backs played well but Hazleton schemed us pretty well up front but our d-backs did a real nice job.”

Harsh added a 90-yard score of his own when he returned the opening kickoff of the second half to the house.

Connor Decker capped off the Warriors’ scoring in the game when he hauled in a pass from Schor, good for 84 yards.

“I was pleased and thought we had a really good effort. There are a lot of things we did better than the week before, and we still have a lot of room for improvement,” said Olsommer.

Schor finished the game with 292 yards passing, and three TD’s.

Decker caught four passes for 162 yards and a score, Morley had 67 yards and a TD, Manzoni with 31 yards and a score.

Cohen rushed for 25 yards and two TD’s.

Next up for the Warriors is a Friday night game in Scranton Memorial Stadium against the Invaders.

“They’re (West Scranton) going to spread it out and want to throw the ball all over the place. It will be an interesting evening,” added Olsommer.
