Lakeville, Pa. -

With the threat of inclement weather the Bucks Tennis Team moved their match with North Pocono to the warm confines of Cove Haven and once again dismantled the visiting team in straight set wins all around, losing only seven games in the seemingly lopsided contest.

With the victory the Bucks upped their record to 12-2, with its only losses this year coming to Scranton Prep and Abington Heights.

Coach Jim Ball has had a good season so far, but it hasn’t been without ups and downs as an injury-plagued season has been haunting him the past few weeks and his line-up changes on almost a daily basis. Chris Finney, the usual number one player for the Bucks has been hampered with a back injury and forced to sit out the past few matches and has a 50 percent chance to play this upcoming Monday in Wilkes-Barre at Kirby Park for the playoffs.

Chris Miller has stepped into the number one spot a few times and has been successful but against North Pocono he was back at number two as Wes Kolodziej stepped into the top role and performed well. Kolodziej beat the Trojan’s Jared Brown in straight sets; 6-4, 6-2, and looked to be getting stronger and more comfortable as the match on.

“I was kind of nervous in the beginning and got off to a rough start. I got better as it went and lost the nerves. It was a good match.” said Kolodziej after the victory.

Chris Miller took down his opponent Steve Garubba in straight sets as well and only lost a total of three points in the entire first set. Miller won 6-0, 6-0.

With the upcoming playoffs, and not a very good match to fine tune the skills needed to take to Kirby Park against Hazleton, Miller and the team will be practicing hard this week to prepare. “We have a lot of good people on this team to practice with and I was working on coming to the net,” said Miller.

Kyle Schneider rounded out the singles victories for the Bucks playing in the three spot and beat Ned Langan 6-0, 6-1.

“It was a relatively easy match but it’s good to work on skills that I have during this match. What I did today was try to come to the net and I tried to close out points fast,” added Schneider.

Kevin Alderfer and Josh Wentz wasted little time in their victory over Brandan Tassey and David Tassey. The number one doubles pairing won in straight sets without conceding a single game 6-0, 6-0.

Mike Ferrante and Joe Mastrianni, number two at doubles for the Bucks did the same thing in not dropping a single game in their win over the Trojan’s Joe Mahoney and Arcadius Zwiercan; 6-0, 6-0.

Chris Finney was at match and supporting his team from the sideline, a place he’d rather not be. “Nobody likes sitting out, but you have to come and support the team. Nobody likes watching and it kind of gives you a drive to get back as soon as you can.”

On whether or not he will be able to go on Monday, Finney is still uncertain, “It’s a 50-50 shot, I just have to do all the right things, hopefully if I do that I will be back and help this team win a district title. Chris Miller has led this team the past four years and he’s going to have go ahead and do what he has to do. Hopefully our number one doubles, which is one of the best doubles team in the league (Alderfer/Wentz), holds on and we can get a win somewhere else.”
