Openings are still available as Mansfield University baseball will be giving inspiring young baseball players a chance to better their skills and have fun at the same time by holding the popular Mansfield University Baseball Camps this summer.
Entering their 22nd year, the Harry Hillson’s Mansfield University Baseball Camps have been recognized as some of the finest instructional camps in the country. Over that span, thousands of youngsters have spent part of their summer learning and improving their baseball skills. Hundreds of our Mountaineer campers have gone on to collegiate careers with numerous playing professional ball. Last year players from over 15 states across the country attended camp.
Hillson is one of the premier collegiate coaches in the nation and the winningest active collegiate coach in the state of Pennsylvania. The camps are held on the beautiful campus of Mansfield University with campers staying in the newly remodeled resident halls and eating at Manser Hall. Coach Hillson , Chris Francis, Pitching Coach, Baseball Coordinator Matt Perry and their professional staff provide 24 hour care and supervision. Swimming and recreation time are provided each day. Camp sessions are held at Joseph Shaute Field, the home of the Mansfield University baseball program. The facility is one of the best college ballparks in the northeast featuring six batting cages and eight practice mounds. Five other fields within the university and town are also used.
This summer the baseball camps feature five different categories fitting the needs of players of all ages. All camps provide overnight accommodations and meals as well as commuter options.
There is one individual week long overnight sessions for players the ages of 7-18 from July 20-24. The week long camp has an emphasis on player development and features daily guest lectures, game competition and intensified individual instruction with five different age divisions to challenge any level of player.
If you’re looking for a shorter stay, the Elite Weekend Specialty Camps provide intensified instruction in pitching, catching or hitting. Elite Weekend Specialty Camps from July 18-20 for ages 7-18. During the weekend camps, players receive state of the art instruction in their specific area, pitching, hitting or catching. Each catcher and pitcher will also receive hitting instruction during the weekend.
The extremely popular Father/ Son Weekend Camp for ages 8-14 runs from July 18-20. During the weekend, fathers and sons attend camp together and work on drills and techniques of the games. Featured events include an ice cream social, cookout and a father/son game.
New this year is the Summer Classic Instructional Camp and Tournament. Players will fine-tune their skills in a camp setting from Wednesday to Friday and play in an exciting travel ball tournament on the Mansfield Campus with a guarantee of four games between Friday and Sunday.
