With less than six seconds showing on the scoreboard it looked like the Lady Bucks and Black Knights of Lake-Lehman would be headed to overtime in the season opener for both squads in the Wyoming Valley Conference soccer match-up, but the Purple Pride stepped up and put one in the back of the net to snatch the victory, beating both their opponent and the clock.

With 5.9 seconds to go until the referee was about to blow the whistle, Kim Barry played a perfect through ball to a streaking Gina Boccia. Boccia received the pass and fired on goal from 18 yards out and the game was over. The goal came at the 79:55 mark in the contest.

Despite the game-winning goal coming so late in the contest, the Bucks outshot the Knights by a margin of 34-12, with Lake-Lehman’s goalkeeper, Becca Stull, recording 33 saves.

‘Paupack faced 12 shots with Heather Michael collecting all 12 saves and earning her first shut-out of the season.
