Hawley, Pa. -

The Lady Bucks Soccer Team and the Lady Warriors of DV faced off on the pitch Friday afternoon and played through two halves and two extra periods of overtime and still no winner was declared. The game  ended in a 0-0 stalemate for the second time this year and the third tie in the past two seasons.

These two squads are seemingly identical in their style of play with both teams using crisp passes and looking to play the long through ball to a streaking forward down the middle. On Friday the defenses were too strong for either team to break the ice and put one in the net.

At the 17:21 mark of the first half DV had one of the few good scoring opportunities of the game when they crossed a ball inside the six yard line, with the Bucks keeper, Heather Michael, making a big save to keep the game scoreless.

With just under 12 minutes to go in the first, Brianna Zeiler took a direct kick for ‘Paupack after a hand ball was called just outside the box. The shot was on target but DV’s Hanna Kyle was up to the challenge and made the save.

In the second half both teams played ball control soccer, with most of the action staying in the middle until the Bucks finally got a good chance to put one in the net. At the 9:22 mark they were awarded a penalty shot for a handball inside the box. The kick sailed just wide left of the net and the game stayed knotted at 0-0 and was forced into overtime.

DV’s goalkeeper, Kyle, came up big in the first period of OT when she stopped a Sara Olson breakaway just two minutes in that would have been the game-winner.

The Bucks are now 6-2-2 and the Warriors are 5-3-2 in league play.

‘Paupack recorded 10 shots in the contest to DV’s 12. Kyle made 10 saves for the Warriors and Michael made 12 for the Bucks.
