The Freshmen Buckhorn Boys Basketball Team was on the hardwood on Wednesday afternoon taking on the Knights of Scranton and after jumping out to a ten-point lead at the end of the first quarter, they fell to the visiting team by a score of 47-41.
The Bucks got off to a fast start on two consecutive buckets from Pat Keane to open the game and Anthony Bouselli scored four more points for the Purple Pack to put them up 8-2 with still a little over four minutes of play left in the first quarter.
Tyler Brexel, Connor Jones, and Nico Tereschak added to this lead late in the quarter and when the first quarter expired they were up 16-6.
In the second the Knights fought their way back into the game going on an eight point run to knot the score at 16-16 with 2:40 remaining before half-time and held a one-point advantage, 21-20, when the teams went into the locker room for the intermission.
In the third, the Knight’s put on a full court press, creating turnovers and converting easy buckets to eventually close out the quarter up ten, 38-28.
In the fourth ‘Paupack found a way to beat the press and Bouselli scored the first bucket of a six point run for the Purple Pack. Brexel went two for two at the line and Jones grabbed a rebound and went back up strong to the basket for another deuce, but the Knights tightened up and held onto their lead, winning 47-41.
