The Lady Buckhorn Soccer Team fell to Pittston Area on Wednesday 2-1 and are currently sitting in a tie for second place with Delaware Valley. Both teams have a record of 6-3-2 in the Wyoming Valley Conference, B Division, and trail Wyoming Seminary who has a perfect 11-0 record.
In the first half of the contest, the two teams battled to a draw, 1-1, with the Patriots striking first. At the 11:49 mark, Desiree Spindler found the net on an unassisted goal, but the lead was short-lived.
‘Paupack’s Sara Olson, the Bucks’ leading scoring with ten on the year, put one in the cage at the 18:32 mark. Olson was assisted on the score by Justine Olsommer, giving her three assists on the year.
In the second half the Patriots struck again. At the 52:57 mark, Marissa Duffy scored on an assist from Marisa Ferenchick. The goal proved to be the game winner in the contest.
Despite the loss the Bucks outshot Pittston Area 11-6 and both teams recorded two corner kicks.
Heather Michael scooped up four saves for the Lady Bucks giving her a total of 48 for the year and a save percentage of 91.7 in seven games played. Lauren Smicherko had ten saves for the Patriots.
