The bases are loaded, there are two outs and your team is trailing by three in the bottom of the seventh. The pitch count is full and you have one last chance to tie or win the game.
This is the scenario Wallenpaupack Junior Legion’s John Gardepe was up against in the second game of a double header with Valley View on Sunday. Gardepe came through and knocked a shot to left-center field for a bases clearing triple and to send the game into extra innings. The Bucks would end up winning the game in the 10th inning when Caleb Vogler tied the score and Kane Kellogg crossed home plate for the winning score; 10-9.
In the second game of the double header the Bucks found their bats and collected ten hits as a team. Ian Dassance led the way going three for four with an RBI and three stolen bases. John Gardepe had two hits and four RBI’s. Alex Aguilera, Marco Barral, Jake DeSane, Will McLaughlin and Erik Pulkkinen all had one hit a piece. Barral also recorded four stolen bases.
On the mound in game two Gardepe, Kane Kellogg, McLaughlin and Pulkkinen pitched in the 10 inning game with Pulkkinen getting the win. Gardepe and Kellogg combined for six strikeouts while McLaughlin recorded one K.
The first game was a different story as the Bucks only managed to scrape up three hits in the 4-1 loss. DeSane, McLaughlin and Pulkkinen had the hits for the Bucks.
The Jr. Legion squad is now 12-4 overall and 11-4 in league play.
