Track and Field Prepares for Districts

The District Track and Field Meet is coming up on Thursday, May 15. The event will be held at Scranton Memorial Stadium with trial heats, throwing and jumping events beginning at 3 pm.

Wallenpaupack’s Rachel Schmalzle will be the favorite to win the 3200 as she is the top performer with a best time of 11:37.3.

Western Wayne’s Lindsey Barna is the favorite to win the 100 Hurdles as she posted the best time of the year with 15.0, but ‘Paupack’s Tiffani Berger should give her a good race.

Western Wayne’s Courtney Kromko has the best distance in the Triple Jump at 36-6 1/2.

For the Boys side of the meet, Delaware Valley’s Dom Hopkins is a threat to win the 100. Hopkins has the best finish of the year in the event with a time of 10.9.

Honesdale’s Tom McCurdy is the top performer in the 400 with a time of 50.8. Teammate Steve Pachuta has the best distance in the Triple Jump posting 42-0.

The Warriors also have top performers in the Shot Put, Jack Rosenstain with a throw of 51-3 and Josh Lutz in the Javelin with a distance of 170-1.

Jr High Boys

Isiah Slutter grabbed third place at the District 2 Junior High Track and Field Championships in the 100. Slutter finished with a time of 12.0.

Matt Miller finished in fourth place in the 3200 for ‘Paupack. Miller finished in 11:08.3.

Robert Sweeley was fifth in the Shot Put. Sweeley had a distance of 44-5 1/2.

Guy Bruno came up just a few feet short of taking first in the Discus. Bruno finished second with a throw of 144-8.

Jesse Brown tied for fifth in the High Jump reaching 5-2.

The boys relay teams in the 1600 and 3200 finished seventh and fifth.

Jr High Girls

Kachina Muller was sixth in the 3200 with a time of 12:46.2

Gigi Elshram was second in the Discus with a distance of 80-3.

The 3200 Relay team finished in seventh with a time of 10:50.1.
