Pike County Marcellus Shale Task Force to meet Oct. 19

The Pike County Marcellus Shale Task Force will hold their next meeting on Wednesday, October 19 starting at 1 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Commissioners meeting room at the County Administration Building, 506 Broad Street, Milford.  
This will be the third meeting of the Task Force this year. Several Task Force Committees have been actively working throughout the year to discuss and  identify issues and develop action items for moving forward. The October 19 meeting will include updates from each of the Committees including Planning and Government, Environment, Education, Economic Development and Tourism, Roads and Public Safety.
The Pike County Board of Commissioners, seeing the need to be proactive on outreach, education, planning and action in regard to Marcellus Shale activities in Pike County, established the Marcellus Shale Task Force  in early 2011.  The Commissioners stated they see the county playing a key leadership role providing fact-based information to Pike County residents and county agencies and building capacity for addressing the various potential impacts and opportunities that this industry might provide for the County.
The Task Force has been meeting quarterly. Regular updates on the activities of the Task Force are being posted on the County website at www.pikepa.org/marcellus.html.
