HAWLEY - On Tuesday, May 3, the Hawley Rotary Club will sponsor its 12th Red Cross blood drive.  The collection will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Hawley United Methodist Church, located at 315 Church St., Hawley.
The goal for the Rotary blood drive is 41 pints.  Rotary is asking for the public’s help in achieving this goal. Three lives are saved with every donation. The Red Cross is responsible for 40% of our Nation’s blood supply.
Individuals who are least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.  Eligible blood donors can give every two months.  Please bring in a positive form of picture ID when you come to donate. Actual donation takes about six to eight minutes but plan on spending only one hour of your day donating blood.
You don’t need a special reason to donate blood.  You just need your own reason. Make an appointment to donate blood on Tuesday, May 3, today by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or online at redcrossblood.org and click donating blood.
