LACKAWAXEN TWP. -  There is a new road master in Lackawaxen Township. Bernard Jay Knapp has been appointed to the road master position, with Iraeton Rozanski as the assistant road master. At the township’s January meeting, Supervisor Chairman Michael Mancino said Knapp was appointed at the reorganization meeting. 

Knapp will also be the road taskforce delegate, with Rozanski as the assistant road taskforce delegate.

Township historian needed

Mancino said a township historian is being sought. Because people contact the township seeking information about the history of their land, a historian is needed. If interested, contact Denise Steuhl, township secretary. 

The board approved Supervisor John W. Biesel to be a signature on all township bank accounts and other financial matters if determined by the board. 

The December township bills, in the amount of $66,138.28 was approved to be paid from the general fund. 

In opposition of House Bill 1620 about wireless infrastructures in the township, the board passed a resolution created by the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS).  

The board approved an amendment regarding the township’s snow plowing agreement with Case Contracting. The agreement allows the company to take salt from the township if necessary for township roads.  

Rich Tussel’s resignation from the planning commission was accepted. 

Alan Engvaldsen was appointed to the planning commission, with a term ending 2021. 

Ben Anderson was reappointed to the planning commission, with a term ending 2022. 

Bill Case was appointed to the planning commission, with a term ending 2022. 

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance was chosen as the primary health provider for Lackawaxen Township employees. 

The board presented the Executive Director of the Hawley Library Deborah Corcoran, as well as Library board members Susie George and Mary Anne Teeter with a $1,000 gift.
