MILFORD- Rosemarie Schoepp, Eds, chairperson of the Pike County Tick Borne Task Force, said that her duty is to educate the public. On Saturday, May 12, the public is welcome at a special public, open meeting of the monthly Tick Borne Disease Support Group. The session starts at 10:30 a.m., at the Pike County Public Library, 119 Harford St., Milford.

The purpose is to allow persons afflicted with tick borne diseases to tell their story.

The support group meets every second Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the library. Regular meetings are not “open sessions” for the general public.

Tick Borne Disease Network Inc., which sponsors the support group, has material explaining the issues a person will encounter if infected with a tick borne disease.

Another public meeting is scheduled Thursday, May 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Milford Borough Hall. Results of the tick study done in Milford Borough last year, will be discussed.

Osterberg added that the County of Pike is still in need of a county nurse. The position has been posted, but there has been no applicants, Osterberg said he was told. The county nurse serves as a direct connection with the PA Department of Health.
