LAKE REGION – The 2019 Paupack Plunge is set for this Saturday, February 16 in the icy waters of Lake Wallenpaupack. Here’s your chance to take a quick, refreshing winter dip for a good cause, or as they say, “freeezin’ for a reason’.”

Held at Lighthouse Harbor Marina, funds raised from the annual event are contributed to the Tafton and Ledgedale Dive Teams.

Dive Team volunteers are on hand to assist the daring participants in and out of the hole cut in the ice. The plunge takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Corporate and individual sponsors help towards the financial donations made to the Dive Teams. Plungers are permitted to collect sponsors. Those with the largest sponsor donations win prizes.

Plungers are reminded to not dive in the water. There is no pressure to completely submerge yourself. Do no run into the water; if you run you could slip and hurt yourself, or be hurt on the objects on the lake bed.

Those who are new at plunging are advised to stay in the back of your group going in; it is easier to get out of the water faster if you are in the back.

Items to bring: A plastic bag containing dry clothes, shoes and socks to change into afterward. You can use the same bag to carry home your wet clothing. Bring two towels; one to dry off and one to stand upon. Have a partner with you to hold your items while you plunge. You may wish to bring a camera or cell phone to take pictures.
