LAKE WALLENPAUPACK - Wayne County Coroner Edward Howell has ruled the death of Jeffrey S. Greene as an accidental drowning. Greene’s remains were found Friday morning, July 19 in Lake Wallenpaupack, after almost nine days of searching by local agencies.
Greene was last seen alive boating on the lake on July 10. Ledgedale and Tafton Dive Teams have been active in the search these past nine days, along with PA State Police and the PA Fish & Boat Commission.
Greene's boat was reported to be found floating on its own, on July 11.
Ledgdale Dive & Rescue Team issued a Facebook post Friday: “This morning we recovered the body of Jeffery Greene from the waters of Lake Wallenpaupack. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. This was a very difficult recovery as we had no witnesses and almost nothing to go on but we never gave up. Thank you for all community’s support and all the other agencies that assisted in the search efforts.”
Trooper Todd, PA State Police, stated the body was recovered  at approximately 6:38 a.m. “Greene was discovered not far from the shore off East Lakeshore Drive, Paupack Township...,” the release states, adding that this ”...is near the area he was last seen.”
An autopsy was scheduled for July 19, with cause of death pending the results of the examination, police state.
Ledgedale and Tafton Dive Teams, as well as PA State Police and the PA Fish & Boat Commission, have been searching for him over the past nine days.
