Comprehensive plan

The board approved an updated comprehensive plan for the region. Supervisor Jim Martin explained that a steering committed collaborated with three municipalities (Palmyra Township, Hawley Borough and Paupack Township) and the Wayne County Department of Planning “supported the effort” by handling the map work for the project. The plan was last updated in 2007 and so he said the township is “right on track” for something that’s usually done every 10 years.
Now, Martin said the township is working to update the zoning ordinance and at some point, they will look at the subdivision land development ordinance. He expressed appreciation to the county for assisting with the map work that was done.
Supervisor Chairman Bruce Chandler said such plans are a benefit to townships, when state grants are sought. Thus far, Paupack Township has received over a million dollars for a park, which meant neither the township nor the taxpayers had to fund the work. The update, Martin noted was completed through a partial grant.

Paupack Township supervisors meet on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Township offices on Daniels Road, Lakeville.
