PALMYRA TWP. (Wayne) - Dave Matsinko was back at the 7th Annual Canal Festival at D&H Canal Park at Lock 31, Saturday. Matsinko gave an introduction to traditional folk music and instruments, including this mountain dulcimer. Native American dances the art of tin punch, tin type photography, guided history and nature talks,. blacksmithing, archaeology, quilting, woodworking were some of the other aspects of the day-long celebration of 19th century life at the time of the canal. The Wayne County Historical Society hosts the event. Still ahead: Construction of the canal boat replica/ pavilion, and further restoration of the c.1820's canal era inn.
